Software that communicates over the internet uses what are known as "Ports" to send and receive data in and out of your computer.  For security reasons, most unused ports are closed by default so may need opening in order to use the DMW Software in conjunction with a router.

The DMW 3 Scanner uses port 25123 TCP

Opening the ports can be done via your router's configuration menu.  Help and advice for this can be found at the following website:

Ports can be "probed" to verify whether they are actually open.   To do this, first you must ensure that the scanner is running so it is using the specified port.

If all is in order you should see the status reported as "OPEN!".  If it is "STEALTH" or "CLOSED" you have not forwarded the port correctly and should check back to see what went wrong.
